In Provence, on the lavender trail (Ventoux, Luberon and Montagne de Lure (Vaucluse, Alpes de Haute-Provence): a magnificent route criss-crossing Provence from Carpentras to Forcalquier, via Gordes, Apt, Simiane-la-Rotonde and Banon.
Landmark villages include Vaison-la-Romaine, Sault, Ferrassières, Aurel, Orpierre and Rosans. Lavender flowers at the end of June in the Buëch and at the beginning of July in the highest areas. Flowering starts at the end of June around Apt and lasts until the end of July in the Pays de Forcalquier. Harvest in late July-early August. Provence is cloaked in a deliciously fragrant purple mantle. It's an opportunity to admire sumptuous landscapes, but also to discover a culture, in every sense of the word: that of lavender, a long-standing Provençal tradition. A delight for the senses.
